Thank you for choosing seefood. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the seefood app. By continuing to use seefood, you acknowledge and consent to the practices outlined below.
Information Collection and Use
- No Account Required: You can use seefood without creating an account. We therefore do not ask for or store your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifying details.
- Camera and Photos: When you capture or upload a picture of an ingredient list, the photo stays on your device. We run optical character recognition (OCR) locally to extract text. The extracted text is then sent securely to our AI service for analysis. We never store your photos on our servers.
- AI Services: We use OpenAI’s models to identify allergens and dietary flags (e.g., vegan, nut-free, gluten-free). OpenAI acts as a processor, and content generator.
- Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to record anonymous, aggregated events such as feature usage and crash reports. These events help us improve performance but are never linked to a real-world identity.
- Advertising: Banner and interstitial ads are delivered through trusted ad networks such as AppLovin MAX. These networks may use your Apple Advertising Identifier and coarse location to personalise ads.
- In-App Purchases: BWhen you buy credit packs through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple shares only a transaction ID with us; we never see your payment details. Your remaining credits are stored locally on your device.
Data Storage
Local Storage: All scan history, credit balances, and preference settings reside on your device. We do not back up this data to our servers. Information about preferences and ingredients is sent to OpenAI for analysis and also to generate results. Firebase retains de-identified analytics data according to its standard retention schedule.
User's Rights
Because virtually all data lives on your device and we hold no personally identifying information, you remain in full control. To opt out of personalised ads, adjust Tracking or Advertising settings on your iOS device.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date and may display an in-app notice as well. Continued use of seefood after such updates signifies acceptance of the revised policy.
